Jay-z rips New Jerseys "All Points West Festival"

This past weekend Jay-z headlined & performed at the highly anticipated "All Points West Festival" in New Jersey. Originally the Beastie Boy's were supposed to be the headliners but with the tragic, breaking news of one of the members being diagnosed with cancer, they had pulled out & that led to Jay-z being called in last minute to save the day.. & he did NOT disappoint.

Fans, barefoot in the mud, walked to the stage area early to get their first-come-first-serve front row position of the stage area at least an hour before show time. As the crowd grew larger, the contagious anticipation flooded the area wondering how the weather would affect Hov's performance.

With luck, the sky parted and the stars appeared above the crowd when a timer on the jumbotron counted down til showtime.

In this issue of Dime mag, they feature an interesting article on the "Top 50 sneaker stores in the world" & "Top Consignment sneaker shops in the world." I've actually been waiting for coverage on something like this, with me of course being somewhat a "shoe-head" myself. lol

I think they did a great job on this because all the local stores that i am personally aware of, had received the attention & rankings they well deserved.

Nike x LeBron James announce "More Than a Game Tour" & Air Max LeBron VII Artist-Series details

Nike yesterday announced a World Tour featuring NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James that will span three continents over two months focusing on empowering youth, community service, grassroots basketball activities, and basketball innovation through the introduction of the Nike Air Max LeBron VII.

James’ World Tour will operate in conjunction with the promotional tour for the Lionsgate film, More Than a Game, which traces James’ journey through adolescence both on and off the court with his teammates from Saint Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. Lionsgate is expecting to release the film in theaters on October 2nd, with an expansion on October 9th, and a wider expansion on October 16th.

Nike will introduce his next signature performance shoe, the Nike Air Max LeBron VII, in advance of the World Tour which begins in Chicago on August 11. From Chicago, the World Tour moves onto Washington, D.C. (August 13) and James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio (August 21); Beijing (August 24), Shenyang (August 26), and Shanghai (August 28) in China; and Paris (Sept 1-3) and London (September 4-5). The Tour returns to the U.S. in New York (September 20) before concluding in Los Angeles (September 26).

Included within the lineup of colorways will be the Red/Black/White Nike SB P-Rod III. The Red Nike SB P-Rod III features a Red leather and suede upper with a Black trim and White accents.


Continuing the buzz that the Air Max 1 is continuing to generate in 2009, Nike will be back in 2010 with several more Air Max 1 releases. Each of the colorways are done in the classic color blocking and mesh/suede, material usage. All of the Air Max 1s in this post are scheduled to release during the Spring of 2010.

Nike's "Kobe in Asia" tour wraps up

Nike's "Kobe in Asia" tour officially wrapped up today in Chengdu.. after hitting Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore & MANILA in the matter of a little over a week.

I personally am a BIG fan of this project by Nike/Kobe, in which the purpose is to expand the sport of basketball across the globe by way of visiting fans & schooling some humble youngsters on the game.

I hope LeBron can do something like this in the future. lol

Nike signs Griffin, Harden, & Curry

After somewhat taking last year's draft off, according to @NikeBasketball, Nike has signed Blake Griffin, James Harden, and Stephen Curry. Blake Griffin was the #1 pick to the Clippers where he will be in a big market and play for a team that does not feature a big time Nike player, Harden went #3 to the Thunder and will join Nike players Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry went #7 to the Golden State Warriors a team that like the Clippers, does not feature a marquee Nike athlete.
